Comparison of structure and properties of nitrided, plasma nitrided and sulfonitrided layers

Description
The process of nitriding, plasma nitriding and sulfonitriding carried out in Mining Machines Factory 'FAMUR' S. A. are described. The characteristics of plasma nitriding MIP-4000 furnace of METAPLAS IONON is presented. Selected constructional steels were submitted to nitriding process. The structure, microhardness and wear resistance of selected layers were defined. The comparison of nitriding processes and layers structure allowed for formulating technological recommendation concerning application of these nitriding processes in working surface hardening of parts of mining machines.
