Cs+ determination in sea water using AMP: effect of added acid

Description
The selective separation and recovery of 137Cs from radioactive liquid waste containing highly concentrated HNO3 and sea water containing high concentration of NaCI are of great interest in recent years for the application of partitioning of nuclides and determination of concentration. Ammonium molybdophosphate (AMP) with a high selectivity for Cs+, can act as one of the most promising inorganic ion-exchanger for this purpose. However AMP is selective to Cs in acidic range (pH<2). This change in sea water pH can be done by adding either HNO3 or HCI. However sea water contain a high concentration of NaCl, the effect of common ion could play a role in determination of Cs using AMP
