CESR/CLEO interaction region upgrade

Description
Expected luminosity upgrades at CESR involve finite-angle beam crossing and beam currents approaching those anticipated for future B factories. Concurrent with the CESR upgrade, the CLEO collaboration will install a precision silicon vertex detector around a 2 cm radius beam pipe. A progress report on the design of the CESR/CLEO interaction region which addresses the issues of background suppression and beampipe cooling will be presented
