Computation of space distributions of excessive vacancies under irradiation

Description

The impact of high-energy particles fluxes result in a significant change of materials properties. Particularly, this impact leads to radiation-induced cavitation accompanied by a swelling of materials. When exposing the metallic systems by the high-energy particles, a quasi-equilibrium concentration of the spot defects is generated in due course. The proposed kinetic model describes the space distributions of the excessive vacancies along a depth of irradiated pure metal samples, taking into account the temperature gradients. Such distributions are caused by generation of the vacancies, their diffusion and relaxation at the sinks. A versatile program to compute the excessive vacancies distribution along the metal samples depth was developed. Computation of the vacancies generation is made for different exposure types (neutrons, protons, electrons, ions) and conditions. The thermal conductivity equation is solved by the finite-difference method to evaluate the sample temperature distributions
