Experiments on the diffusion of hydrogen in yttrium

Description

The diffusion coefficients hydrogen in yttrium at 400 and 5000C were determined to be D(4000C) = (1.05 +- 3%) x 10-6 cm2/5 and D(5000C) = (3.69 +- 5%) x 10-6 cm2/5. The measurement of the hydrogen concentrations in the metal samples was non-destructively carried out by means of a neutron beam. The local resolution was +- 1.5 mm. The measuring method and the sample treatment are described. (HPOE)

Abstract (German)

Es wurden die Diffusionskoeffizienten von Wasserstoff in Yttrium bei 400 und 5000C zu D(4000C) = (1,05 +- 3%) x 10-6 cm2/5 und D(5000C) = (3,69 +- 5%) x 10-6 cm2/5 bestimmt. Die Messung der Wasserstoffkonzentrationen in den Metallproben erfolgte zerstoerungsfrei mit Hilfe eines Neutronenstrahls. Die Ortsaufloesung betrug +- 1,5 mm. Das Messverfahren und die Probenbehandlung werden beschrieben. (HPOE)
