Present and future performances in the evolution of nuclear fuels
Description
After a few notes concerning the nuclear fuels which are utilized in the water reactors and in the fast neutron reactors, the fuel assemblies for fast neutron reactors and their manufacture are described in greater detail. This is followed by a review of the main stresses (temperature, pressure, irradiation), etc.) to which the fuel assemblies in the two types of reactors are exposed. The article, then describes the experience acquired in this field and the performances of the present fuels. Finally, the principal objectives of current research work are explained
