Influence of binaries on red dwarf density distributions

Creators

Description

Density distributions and luminosity functions for red dwarfs are recalculated, assuming the presence of unresolved binaries in the data. Previous conclusions concerning the enhanced luminosity function of these stars, and their concentration to the galactic plane remain unchanged. Arguments in favor of the "missing mass" in the solar neighborhood being supplied by faint red dwarfs are strengthened.
