P-parity nonconservation in the total cross section for the interaction of thermal neutrons with 233U
- 1. B. P. Konstantinov Leningrad Institute of Nuclear Physics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR
Description
An upper limit is found on the difference between the cross sections for the interactions of thermal neutrons with opposite helicities with 233U: P = (sigma+/sub t/-sigma-/sub t/)/(sigma+/sub t/ +sigma-/sub t/)<1.5 x 10-6 (at a 90% confidence level). This result contradicts the value P = 10-4--10-5 estimated under the assumption that the 0.17-eV level is a p-wave level
