Description

This paper describes the design and implementation of an eight-channel low power front-end readout for Muon tomography. Imaging using atmospheric muons is an emerging field for detection of high Z SNM materials. The main features of the readout are 1.8 ns rise time, 50 ohm I/O impedance and LVDS output. A single channel of the readout consists of an input differential stage followed by two gain stages, a cable buffer and an LVDS comparator. LVDS output enables the front end to be interfaced to TDCs.
