Short-distance CP-violating contributions to the KL,S → γγ processes

Description

We consider new short-distance penguin-induced quark diagrams for K0(anti K0) → γγ within the standard model. These diagrams leave the total CP-conserving amplitude essentially uncharged. However, the CP-violating amplitude receives a sizeable contribution, comparable with the pole contribution which has so far been considered to be the only contribution including direct CP violation.
