Incomplete fusion reactions: some interesting systematics

Description

In heavy-ion reactions at low energies, variety of reactions are possible whose mechanism is still not well understood. At low energies the complete fusion (CF) as well as incomplete fusion (ICF) are the dominant reactions. In the case of incomplete fusion, a part of the incident ion fuses with the target nucleus while the remnant moves in forward direction with the same velocity as that of incident projectile. Several models have been proposed to study the ICF reactions, however, none of them are able to satisfactorily reproduce the data. In order to study the ICF reactions and to study its influence on various entrance channel parameters, several experiments have been carried out at the IUAC, New Delhi. The analysis of data has indicated significant contribution of incomplete fusion at energies as low as ≈4-7 MeV/nucleon, where the complete fusion is expected to play a dominant role. In this talk some interesting systematics on ICF reactions will be presented
