Corrosion resistant nickel base alloys

  • 1. Tsentral'nyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij Inst. Chernoj Metallurgii, Moscow (USSR)

Description

Corrosion resistance of the nickel base alloys and ways of its increase are considered. State diagrams of the Ni-Mo and Ni-Cr systems and corrosion rates of these system alloys in different media are presented. Effect of molybdenum, chromium and impurities (carbon, silicon) upon the tendency to intercrystalline corrosion (ICC) of the alloys investigated is shown. ICC mechanism is explained from the viewpoint of the theory of chromium and molybdenum depletion of the boundary regions. Chemical compositions and media of application for four commercial corrosion resisting alloys (KhN58V, N70MF, KhN65MVU, KhN60MB) are presented
