Wyhl from the country's point of view

The Ministry for Economy, Small Business and Traffic responsible for the energy planning of the Federal Land Baden-Wuerttemberg gives reasons for the use of nuclear power plants to supply electricity for the next decades. In addition the non-harmful effects to the environment of nuclear energy, the lack of fossil fuels is also a decisive factor for the future. In selecting the site Wyhl, agricultural meteorological aspects as well as those of the countryside and nature protection have been considered so that objections by the population based on these reasons have, to a large extent, no foundation. A comparison of risks shows that the hazards due to nuclear power plants are frequently greatly overestimated. (ORU/LH)
