Description
New mixed bismuth layer-structure oxided, also known as Aurivillius phase, of Bi5Nb3O15 (BIN) was synthesized by the ordinary firing and hot pressing method. The synthesis of BIN was carried out according to the solid state reaction from the conventional mixture of oxides (Bi2O3, Nb2O5). The process of preparation was investigated by X-ray diffraction method, and simultaneous thermal analysis in which both thermal and mass change effects were measured on the same sample. DTA and TG traces showing the synthesis effects have been recorded. Dielectric permittivity (ε), and dielectric loss tangent (tgδ) were measured by a bridge technique. Microstructure and chemical composition were also investigated. Ferroelectricity was recognized for BIN. (author)
