Relativistic string as a limiting case of an elongated bag

Description
The equations for the relativistic string with an additional longitudinal degree of freedom are formulated as a limiting case of the theory of an elongated bag. The bag cross section A is treated as a dynamical variable. When the string is straight ln A obeys the sinh-Gordon equation
