Description
With the purpose of implement the use of oncology films in the neuroblastoma treatment a study of the methodology of the use of electron beams of 14 MeV it was accomplished. As described by ICRU Report n. 71, the variations of relative dose in depth were tested in a water simulator and in a paraffin simulator. The paraffin simulator was built with similar dimensions of a five years old child. The dosimetric procedures used with objective of evaluate the efficiency in this therapy. It was observed that in the irradiation with electron beams the relative dose percentage in the subsequent organs to the tumor is inferior to the observed in irradiation with photon beams. The measures with oncologic films are a viable method for gauging of relative dose in depth and the employment of electron beams of 14 MeV is not a safe method for neuroblastoma treatment. It is recommended to use the ICRU Report n. 71, to the treatment of neuroblastoma in depths greater than 50 mm (author)
