Operating experience with the DORIS electron-positron-double storage ring
Description
The DORIS double storage ring has supplied physics experiment with luminosity which is now available for 90% of the operating time since the autumn of 1974. Luminosities averaging above 4 x 1029 cm-2 s-1 are reached at energies between 1.5 and 2 GeV, peak values are about 1030 cm-2 s-1. The life of the beam exceeds 10 h. Detailed studies of the beam properties, such as optical resonances and instabilities caused by cavities, and technical measures for their reduction were required to reach these values. (orig.)

Seit Herbst 1974 versorgt der Doppelspeicherring DORIS physikalische Experimente mit Luminositaet, die inzwischen waehrend 90% der Betriebszeit zur Verfuegung steht. Im Mittel werden bei Energien zwischen 1,5 und 2 GeV Luminositaeten ueber 4 x 1029 cm-2 s-1 erreicht, Spitzenwerte liegen um 1030 cm-2 s-1. Die Strahllebensdauer betraegt mehr als 10 Stunden. Um diese Werte zu erreichen, waren eingehende Studien der Strahleigenschaften, wie optische Resonanzen und durch die Beschleunigungsstrecken hervorgerufene Instabilititaeten, und technische Massnahmen zu deren Bekaempfung erforderlich.
