Solar energy thermionic electricity generating plants for spacecrafts
Description
We have presented fundamentals of the construction of an electricity generating plant with the help of thermionic conversion of the solar energy for spacecrafts. In the course of the study it appeared that inside of the trajectory of Mars solar energy plants will be more suitable than thermionic reactors, mainly due to technical robustness and light construction. The fabrication costs of the solar energy converters seem to be lower because they have simpler construction and seem more suitable for mass production than nuclear converters. (orig.)
Abstract (German)
Wir haben die Konstruktion einer Anlage zur Stromerzeugung mittels thermionischer Umwandlung von Sonnenenergie fuer Raumfahrzeuge angegeben. Es hat sich herausgestellt, dass innerhalb der Marsbahn Sonnenenergieanlagen gegenueber nuklearen Anlagen durch technische Robustheit und leichtere Bauweise guenstiger ausfallen. Auch die Herstellungskosten der Sonnenenergiekonverter duerften niedriger liegen, da sie eine einfachere Konstruktion haben und zur Serienfertigung geeigneter erscheinen als nukleare Konverter.
