Far-infared spectroscopic observations with a Balloon-Borne infrared telescope

  • 1. Kyoto Univ. (Japan). Faculty of Science

Description

The first observations of far-infrared celestial objects using the 50-cm Balloon-Borne Infrared Telescope were made in Alice Springs, Australia. Far-infrared spectrophotometric data between 45 and 115 μm were taken for the Orion-KL region, Saturn and a southern H II region RCW 38. The data including high excitation transition lines of CO for Orion-KL, O III lines for RCW 38 and a PH3 absorption feature of Saturn will be presented. (author)
