Stellar flares: pulsed processes in atmospheres of late-type dwarf stars

Description
Observations in all the spectral ranges of flares on red dwarf stars are discussed. A development of the Kostjuk-Pikel'ner solar flare model is given as applied to stellar flares, i.e. the primary energy release to occur above the chromosphere and subsequent gas-dynamic process is developing in the chromosphere and corona, accompanied by radiation in different spectral regions. Recent observations are compared consistently with results of numerical modelling of the so-called gas-dynamic model of a stellar flare. The scenario of an impulsive stellar flare is proposed: appearance of the optical continuum impulse in dense atmospheric layers is close to the region of the primary energy release, then perturbation propagates during 1-3 min along one or several giant arches and gas-dynamic process is developing on a large area in the other footpoint of the arch (or several arches)
