Procedure and equipment for the treatment of elongated radioactive waste materials
Description
This invention concerns a procedure and equipment for the treatment of elongated radioactive metallic waste materials from the core of light water reactors. The waste materials with different cross sections are dismantled under shielded conditions. The non reprocessible waste parts are treated in such a way that a shipment to a long-term waste repository is possible. Waste parts from interium storage sites and the reactor core resp. are processed in a special dismantling and conditioning equipment which is movable and can be applied to all reactor units of a nuclear power plant
