Thermal phase fluctuations in thin superconducting wires

Description
Thermally generated phase fluctuations in thin superconducting wires have been studied using a two fluid picture. The dynamic response function of the superfluid shows two types of collective modes. The fluctuation amplitude calculated from the Equipartition theorem is nearly independent of the sample resistivity for high Tc in comparison with the P-1/2 dependence for the low Tc counterpart. Near Tc, it is large enough to generate phase slip events. (orig.)
