The cost disposing radioactive waste is continuing to climb. This combined with other factors, is generating increasing interest in volume reduction systems. In October 1986, Gulf States Utilities Company installed a self-contained Hydro Nuclear Dry Active Waste Volume Reduction System at River Bend Station.
