Description
A simple way of derivation of Virasoro and W-constraints from explicit on-shell invariance of the action of matrix models is described. Non-trivial corrections to naive Virasoro and W-generators are related to ''quantum effects'', namely the change of integration measure. This lagrangian approach provides a clear and unified treatment of constraints in all matrix models. (orig.)
