Nonlinear effects in component-structure-interaction and their influence on the dynamic behaviour of the components

This paper presents some results of the general investigations which were carried out within the research project 'Ascertainment of the Safety Reserves in the Transmission Chain Building - Component in Case of Earthquake' in order to clarify the influence of local non-linearities. The seismic response of single-degree-of-freedom-systems and two-degrees-of-freedom-systems due to yielding, friction and gaps is presented. The importance of the consideration of those effects due to economic and safety demands is demonstrated. (orig.)
