One- and two-dimensional position sensitive scintillation detectors for thermal neutrons

  • 1. Zentrallabor fur Elektronik der KFA Julich, Julich

Description

One- and two-dimensional scintillation detectors are being developed for thermal neutrons. In both cases a digital read-out method is applied. The first one-dimensional detector is in continuous use on a neutron powder diffractometer since fall '82. The performance of this detector with respect to spatial resolution, long term stability and omicron -sensitivity is presented. A two-dimensional scintillation detector under development will be used in a small angle neutron scattering facility. With a two-dimensional prototype detector of fifteen PM signals multiplexed into nine ADCs a sufficient resolution and a high long term stability have been achieved
