Influence of MR imaging on evoked potentials and nerve conduction velocities in humans

Description
This paper determines the influence of a 1.0-T magnetic field of MR imaging on somatosensory-evoked potential (SSEP), visual-evoked potential (VEP), auditory-evoked potential (AEP), and peripheral nerve conduction velocities. All measurements were obtained using a 1.0-T superconductive MR unit. In 50 Healthy volunteers (age range, 22--40 years), we investigated the potentials outside and inside the static magnetic field 1 hour before and 1 hour after imaging. We studied two orientations of the peripheral nerve relative to the magnetic field: one with the subject's arm perpendicular and one with the subject's arm parallel to the magnetic field
