The 45Sc(p,n) reactions as a source of monoenergetic 10-50 keV neutrons
Description
The use of the 45Sc(p,n) reaction as a monoenergetic source of 10-50 keV neutrons is compared to the frequently used 7Li(p,n) reaction. The lower cross section in the 45Sc(p,n) case is compensated for by the spectral purity of the beam, which is shown to be a major drawback in the 7Li(p,n) case. Detailed yield curves are given for the 45Sc(p,n) reaction to 110 keV above threshold. (Auth.)
