Creators

Description

The French nuclear power station park essentially consists of 51 pressurised water reactor plants. The average age of these is over 7 years. In the 'Service Life' Project of the EdF, question concerning the technical service life and the safety and economic considerations involved with this are being studied. In the initial phase the 900 MW units were examined and the current phase is examining the 1300 MW units. Results up to now show that it is possible to operate the plants for a period of 40 years in very good safety and economic conditions as long as a proper policy of operational monitoring and maintenance is pursued. There are also encouraging results for the extension of service lives. 2 figs
