Description
In this paper the suprathermal DT fusions due to the introduction of 14 MeV neutrons in finite-sized DT spheres, at density and temperature of interest for ICF, are investigated on the basis of the transport equations for source neutrons and recoil ions. although the number of suprathermal fusions per 14 MeV neutron is quite small in the fuel pellets typical for current implosion experiments, it becomes appreciable, i.e., 0.1 or more, in the reactor-grade ones. Neutrons and alpha particles emitted from the suprathermal fusions distribute over 11 MeV approx-lt En approx-lt 30 MeV and 0 approx-lt Eα approx-lt 18 meV, respectively
