Description
The findings of the activities carried out on the experimental plant, to simulate a small break LOCA (LP-SB-3) and a Loss of Feedwater (LP-FW-1) transients, are reported. Both experiments investigated the intrinsic capability of the PWR plants to recover from an accidental initiating event, on either the primary or the secondary coolant system. The experiments gave also a measure of the safety margins allocated to the ECCS systems. The code's simulation activity, associated with both experiments, confirmed their general suitability to represent, to an acceptable approximation, abnormal plant situations, indicating also in which way their usefulness could be improved
