Induced morphological mutants in three different hexaploid triticales

  • 1. Bharathiar Univ., Coimbatore (India). Cytogenetics Lab.

Description

Induced mutation is supplementary to the recombinant methods of plant breeding. Triticale, an amphiploid of recent origin, is an ideal material for induced mutations due to its flexible genome. Differences in mutagenic frequencies between varieties were explained on the basis of genic differences. The induction of morphological mutants in three hexaploid triticales which differ in their rye genome composition is reported. (author). 6 refs., 1 tab
