Observation of a new effect in heavy-ion atom collisions

Description
An observation of radiation continua produced in heavy ion-atom collisions is reported which cannot be explained, in its entirety, as molecular orbital (MO) X-rays. Beams of 12C, 16O, 35Cl and 79Br incident on gold targets yielded very similar spectra. (Auth.)
