Neutron diffraction study of amorphous beryllium hydride

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

Using the neutron diffraction study of the BeD2 deuteride amorphous state and the Be(Hsub(0.64)Dsub(0.36))2 hydride with a hydrogen zero-scattering-matrix, the functions of the radial distribution of the nuclear beryllium density and mean nuclear density of atoms of both kinds in these hydrides are built up. Magnitudes of coordination radii:Rsub(Be-Be)=2.50+-0.10 A, Rsub(Be-D)=1.47+-0.05A, Rsub(D-D)=2.43+-0.05 A and coordination numbers: Zsub(Be-Be)=3+-1, Zsub(D-Be)=4.0+-0.4, Zsub(Be-D)=2.0+-0.2, Zsub(D-D)=9+-3 are determined. The model of mutual molecule arrangement, in which magnitudes of coordination numbers and coordination radii are in a good agreement with experimental results, is proposed
