Programmed laser beams for optimum excitation of fusion reactions in fuel pellets
Description
The invention is based on the principle described in the U.S. patent application no. 10,516 filed Feb. 22, 1970, but instead of one only high-energy laser pulse it uses at least three successive pulsed laser beams of different energy and duration for performing the fusion within the injected fuel pellets, all those beam being directed towards each of the fuel pellets injected sequentially so that optimum energy is transferred to each pellet for the purpose of ionization, tailoring and fusion. Die Erfindung basiert im wesentlichen auf dem in der US-Patentanmeldung Nr. 10.516 vom 11.2.1970 beschriebenen Prinzip, benutzt aber anstelle eines einzigen Hochenergielaserimpulses zur Durchfuehrung der Fusion innerhalb des injizierten Brennstoff-Pellets mindestens drei aufeinanderfolgende gepulste Laserstrahlen von unterschiedlicher Energie und Dauer wobei alle derartigen Strahlen auf ein jedes der sequentiell injizierten Brennstoff-Pellets in einer solchen Weise gerichtet ist, das optimale Energie auf jedes Pellet zum Zwecke der Ionisation, Dichteformung ('tailoring') und Fusion uebertragen wird.
