Thermal expansion of C15 intermetallic compounds in quasi-binary Tbsub(1-x)Hosub(x)Alsub(2) system
Description
By the method of X-ray dilatometry the thermal expansion of Tbsub(1-x)Hosub(x)Alsub(2) intermetallic compounds in the temperature range from 5 to 300 K is studied. The plotted temperature dependences of thermal expansion have shown that in the Tbsub(1-x) Hosub(x)Alsub(2) quasibinary system the passage into magnetoordered ferro-magnetic state is accompanied by anomalous decrease of volume falling on a formula unit of the intermetallic compound. In addition the compounds containing terbium suffer distortion phase transformations due to spontaneous magnetostriction which caused anomaly at the temperature dependence curve at 21 K
