Solar evaporation of fluoride wastes

Description

Management of wastes, predominately NH4OH and NH4F, at Exxon's Richland nuclear fuel fabrication plant involves addition of sulfuric acid followed by concentration by solar evaporation in a lagoon. Physical properties of the flexible liners used to form the lagoon was tabulated, and a discussion of the lagoon construction was given. Factors effecting the choice of favorable areas for open solar evaporation in the U.S. were described
