Deep inelastic Compton scattering and muon pair photoproduction in the rest frame parton model
Description
A rest frame parton model of a proton composed soley of three fractionally charged, point Dirac quarks is applied to deep inelastic proton Compton scattering and muon pair photoproduction off a beryllium target. Computation of cross sections is made using conventional Feynman rules to write down the matrix elements but the initial parton state is represented by a parametrized bound state wavefunction. The results, by using an input completely determined from deep inelastic lepton-proton scattering, are considerably smaller than the experiment of Caldwell et al for deep inelastic proton Compton scattering or the experiment of J.F. Davis et al for moun pair photoproduction. Our results are similar to the standard parton model prediction of Bjorken and Paschos, although our model includes a number of nonscaling and parton binding effects not included in the standard parton model
