Description
Exposure to radon progeny and some aspects of protection against radon in dwellings and workplaces are briefly described. The conversion factor from radon progeny exposure to effective dose is 1.4 mSv(mJhm-3)-1(5 mSvWLM-1) for workers and 1.1 mSv(mJhm-3)-1(4 mSvWLM-1) for members of the public, respectively. Action level related to radon concentration for remedial measures in dwellings is about 200-600 Bqm-3, with an annual occupancy of 7000 hours and an equilibrium factor of 0.4. The occupational annual limit on exposure to radon progeny is 14 mJhm-3(4 WLM) per year, averaged over 5 years and 35 mJhm-3(10 WLM) in a single year
