Technical initiatives on early sufficiency in energy
Description
A case is presented for three different approaches to solving the shortage of oil in the United States of America; conservation, solar energy and nuclear energy. The politics involved in the three approaches are reviewed. It is felt that emotion is exerting undue influences on energy policy decisions. In particular there has been a great deal of agitation and public concern about the safety of nuclear reactors in spite of their perfect health and safety record. The questions of nuclear wastes disposal, nuclear proliferation, and nuclear fuel supplies are discussed. (U.K.)
