Proteome analysis of human glioma cells after heavy charged particle radiation

Description
We have investigated whether proteome analysis based upon two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) and matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) can identify the protein expression differences between carbon-beam-sensitive cell line (U-373MG) and carbon-beam-resistant cell line (U-251MG). The expressions of 31 protein spots were altered by carbon irradiation in the U-373MG, whereas only 4 spots were altered in the U-251MG. These results suggest that many proteins were involved in the carbon-induced apoptosis. (author)
