Description
The Institut fuer Nukleare Entsorgungstechnik performs research and development work on the treatment, solidification and final storage of radioactive wastes. The main target of the work is to develop processes and concepts for a safe disposal of radioactive wastes from nuclear plants. The work on waste treatment is carried out within the framework of the reprocessing and waste treatment project. It comprises of the development and characterization of ultimate storable waste products as well as the development of processes for the treatment and solidification of radioactive wastes mainly from reprocessing irradiated nuclear fuels. The studies on the ultimate storage are carried out together with the 'Gesellschaft fuer Strahlen- und Umweltforschung'. Their main concern is the analysis of processes in the neighbourhood of ultimate storage (waste product, packing, filling and immediate surrounding storage medium) for normal and accident conditions and their safety technical optimization. The report is supplemented by a list of publications and lectures of the institute coworkers in 1980. (orig./RB)

Das Institut fuer Nukleare Entsorgungstechnik fuehrt F + E-Arbeiten zur Behandlung, Verfestigung und Endlagerung radioaktiver Abfaelle durch. Hauptziel der Arbeiten ist die Entwicklung von Verfahren und Konzepten fuer eine sichere Entsorgung kerntechnischer Anlagen von radioaktiven Abfaellen. Die Arbeiten zur Abfallbehandlung werden im Rahmen des Projektes Wiederaufarbeitung und Abfallbehandlung durchgefuehrt. Sie umfassen die Entwicklung und Charakterisierung entlagerfaehiger Abfallprodukte sowie die Entwicklung von Verfahren fuer die Behandlung und Verfestigung von radioaktiven Abfaellen vornehmlich aus der Wiederaufarbeitung bestrahlter Kernbrennstoffe. Die Arbeiten zur Endlagerung werden gemeinsam mit der Gesellschaft fuer Strahlen- und Umweltforschung im Rahmen der Entwicklungsgemeinschaft Tieflagerung durchgefuehrt. Sie konzentrieren sich auf die Analyse der Vorgaenge im Nahbereich des Endlagers (Abfallprodukt/Verpackung/Versatz und unmittelbar umgebendes Lagermedium) fuer Normal- und Stoerfallbedingungen und deren sicherheitstechnische Optimierung. Der Bericht wird ergaenzt durch eine Liste der Veroeffentlichungen und Vortraege der Institutsmitarbeiter aus dem Jahre 1980. (orig./RB)
