Radiobiology, following the advancements of cellular and molecular biology, helped to a better understanding of the effects and mechanisms of ionizing radiations on live matter and cells, such as the cellular killing, which arises with very different efficiencies depending on the involved tissues; radiotherapy is based on this principle. Long term effects of low doses, such as genetic mutation leading to cancers and consequences on descendants or somatic risks, are also a main theme of radiology studies
