Development of scintillator for a high-frame-rate neutron radiography

Description

The properties of Ni doped ZnS(Ag) scintillator for a high-frame-rate neutron radiography and also for a high-counting-rate neutron scintillation detector were examined and confirmed to be promising. Although the deterioration of the emission spectrum and in the light transmission property was observed, a slow component in the scintillation decay was well suppressed. The decrease in the thermal neutron detection efficiency such as small percent due to the deterioration of optical property was recoverable with the replacement of neutron converter such as 6LiF to 10B2O3
