Description

Primary and secondary neutron partial cross-sections at 14 MeV for Mg24, Fe56 and Zn6'4 have been computed using pre-equilibrium emission and constant temperature evaporation model codes NX1 and SC2N3N under some approximations. Also, compound nucleus model using the optical model potential parameters with level density formula of Lang and LeCouteur has been extensively used for computing primary and secondary reaction cross-sections. Pairing energy correction has improved the results of cross-sections. The agreement of the computed cross-sections with the available recent experimental values is fairly reasonable considering the pre-equilibrium emission. Replacing the Lang and LeCouteur level density parameter by most recent rigorous level density formula of Iljinov et al (1992) based on the phenomenological systematics analysis of level densities, improved the cross-sections remarkably. The salient features of this level density formula have been given. (author). 11 refs., 3 tabs
