Description

In the present work we have developed a generalized theory of phonon-drag thermopower Ŝg for a highly anisotropic two-dimensional electron gas. For electrons confined in AlAs quantum wells we calculate Ŝg as function of temperature. We show that Ŝg exhibits a strong anisotropic behavior depending on valley occupancy which can be tuned by well width and strain. Also a great enhancement of Ŝg is observed compared to GaAs quantum wells
