The forward and backward silicon trackers of H1

Description

The Forward Silicon Tracker (FST) and the Backward Silicon Tracker (BST) of the H1 experiment at HERA are designed to measure tracks of charged particles arising from electron-proton interactions. The BST, which has been operating since 1997-2000, was redesigned and complemented and a new FST was built, both detectors to be operated in the high luminosity phase of HERA starting in 2002. In this paper, the layout and readout electronics of both detectors are described
