Surface resistance of superconducting lead TM010 mode cavities fabricated by an inside surface electroplating technique

Description
Several superconducting lead cavities in the TM010 mode at 9.7 GHz were investigated at low rf input power (< or approx. =3 mW). The cavities were prepared by deep drawing copper substrates and then depositing lead by means of a new electroplating technique to obtain a continuous film on the inside surface of the cavity. Unloaded Q's on the order of 109 were routinely obtained and the lowest reported residual surface resistance value (2.0 x 10-8Ω) for either TM or TE modes was measured at X-band frequencies
