The effect of austenite stability on mechanical properties of nonmagnetic aging steels and alloys
Creators
Description
A study was made of ageing austenitic steels and alloys based on iron and nickel. The alloys were strengthened by ageing and combined methods which consist of ageing and plastic deformation carried out at different temperatures. It was found that the strength and the plastic properties in deformed and non-deformed metastable steels and alloys increase simultaneously after ageing, due to a martensitic γ → α transformation occurring in alloys as tensile stresses were applied to determine their mechanical properties
