Storage building for burnt-up nuclear reactor fuel elements

Description

The storage boxes can be stacked horizontally in the storage rack. The heat removal devices consist of heat pipes. They consist of heat exchangers with a closed thermal liquid circulation system or an evaporation and condensation system. They are provided with multiple redundancy and are cooled by natural draught outside the building. In case of partial failure of heat removal devices in order to maintain the air circulation via the intact heat removal devices, air ducts which can be closed are provided in the floor and ceiling region of the storage room. Abstract (German)

Die Lagerbuechsen sind im Lagergestell in horizontaler Lage stapelbar. Die Waermeableiteinrichtungen bestehen aus Waermerohren. Sie bestehen aus Waermetauschern mit einem geschlossenen thermischen Fluessigkeitsumwaelzsystem bzw. einem Verdampfungs- und Kondensationssystem. Sie sind mehrfach redundant vorgesehen und ausserhalb des Gebaeudes durch Naturzug gekuehlt. Fuer den Fall eines teilweisen Ausfalles von Waermeableiteinrichtungen sind zur Aufrechterhaltung der Luftumwaelzung ueber die noch intakten Waermeableiteinrichtungen abschliessbare Luftfuehrungskanaele in der Boden- und Deckenregion des Lagerraumes vorgesehen.
